IGE Senior Fellow Advances Multi-Faith Peace Process in the Holy Land

In May, IGE Senior Fellow Suhail Khan visited the Holy Land as part of a delegation of Americans of faith led by Archbishop Theodore McCarrick and former Ambassador and Congressman Tony P. Hall.

On 11 June 2009, IGE President Chris Seiple was featured on a panel discussion entitled "Muslims in the West: A Discussion at the Intersection of National Security & Faith."

Josh White to Moderate Discussion on Pakistan's NWFP

IGE's Joshua White will moderate a panel on "Islamic Militancy and Sectarianism in the Northwest Frontier" on 15 April 2009 as part of the Jamestown Foundation's conference on "Pakistan's Troubled Frontier: The Future of FATA and the NWFP."

Chris Seiple at Alliance of Civilizations Forum

IGE President Chris Seiple will attend the Second United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Forum in Istanbul on 6-7 April 2009. The Alliance Forum convenes a powerful network of world leaders, heads of international organizations, civil society groups, youth, corporations, foundations, and media to forge partnerships to build meaningful interaction between diverse communities and strengthen trust and reconciliation across cultures.  For more information, visit www.unaoc.org.

RFIA Contributing Editor Tom Farr to Speak at Georgetown

RFIA contributing editor Thomas Farr will speak at Georgetown University on 15 April 2009 in a lecture entitled "International Religious Freedom - How Important is it to America?" Following Farr's introduction will be a panel of respondents including Allen Hertzke and Andrew Natsios.  For more information or to RSVP, see the Berkley Center's website.

Chris Seiple Participates in "Nyon Process"

Dr. Seiple travels to Madrid for the UN Alliance of Civilizations' “Nyon Process” on religion and social activism. He will chair the session on "Religious Freedom and Proselytization" which will discuss the best ways to expand freedom of religion and protect religious minorities while at the same time enhancing respect for diverse cultures and religious traditions. The conference is 2-3 March in Madrid, Spain. You can find more information at the Alliance of Civilizations website.

Josh White on Counter-terrorism and SSR in Pakistan

IGE's Joshua White will participate in a panel discussion entitled "Counter-terrorism and SSR in Pakistan" at the Department for International Development.  The event is part of the Global Facilitation Network for Security Sector Reform and will focus on the nature of, and challenges to, meaningful security sector reform in Pakistan.

Josh White Speaks on Swat

Joshua White, a Research Fellow at the Center on Faith and International Affairs, will speak next week on the recent peace agreement between the government of Pakistan and the Taliban in the Swat valley.  The event will be held 4 March 2009 at 12:00pm at the Middle East Institute.  For more information, see MEI's website.

SAIS Seminar With IGE's Joshua White

Joshua White, Research Fellow with IGE's Center on Faith & International Affairs, will participate in a panel discussion on Bangladesh on Wednesday, January 28 at 5:00PM at the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington.  The session is entitled “The 2008 Bangladesh Elections and Beyond: Democracy, Security and Development.”
