IGE Senior Fellow Advances Multi-Faith Peace Process in the Holy Land
In May, IGE Senior Fellow Suhail Khan visited the Holy Land as part of a delegation of Americans of faith led by Archbishop Theodore McCarrick and former Ambassador and Congressman Tony P. Hall. The three-day tour was facilitated by the Council of Religious Institutions of the Holy Land, which includes the Chief Rabbis of Israel, the Supreme Judge of the Shari'a Courts of Palestine, and many well-established Christian leaders of all major denominations in Jerusalem. Over the past two years, Ambassador Hall and Cardinal McCarrick have led small groups of American faith leaders to the Holy Land in an effort to build bridges with religious leaders of the three major faith traditions. While many are making great efforts for peace in the region, this is the first such effort that has sought to engage senior religious leaders with political leadership as part of the formal peace process.
