Experts Panel

Members of IGE's Experts Panel give media interviews and also advise IGE on its programs and strategy. They help design programs to "influence the influencers," equipping leaders who currently hold positions of political and intellectual influence. And they also help IGE provide resources that are accessible to non-specialists and students who have a passion for global issues.

Dr. Akbar Ahmed

Dr. Akbar Ahmed is the Ibn Khaldun Chair of Islamic Studies at American University in Washington, DC, and is considered one of the world's leading authorities on Islam.  He is the former High Commissioner of Pakistan to Great Britain, and has advised Prince Charles and met with President George W. Bush on Islam.

Dr. Stephen Bailey

Dr. Stephen Bailey is an Associate Professor of Intercultural Studies and Director of the Alliance Graduate School of Intercultural Studies at the graduate school of Nyack College.

Tim Dean

Tim Dean is Director of the World Media Trust. In a voluntary capacity he is Executive Secretary of First Step Forum, and a priest working in the Church of England parish of Godalming.

Dr. Tim Dearborn

Dr. Tim Dearborn serves as Director of Faith and Development Programmes for World Vision International. Dr. Dearborn previously taught on the faculties of Fuller Theological Seminary and Regent College, Seattle Pacific University.

Dr. Michael Hillyard

Dr. Michael Hillyard is President of the University of St. Augustine and is the author of numerous publications in the areas of national security, military affairs, leadership, and education

Alan MacDonald

Alan MacDonald directs the Global Engagement strategy at Fairfax Community Church in Fairfax, Virginia. Mr. MacDonald served with SIL International for 32 years in government relations, international communications and program administration.

Dr. Ruth Melkonian-Hoover

Dr. Ruth Melkonian is an assistant professor of political studies at Gordon College in Wenham, MA. Her areas of interest include Latin America, political participation, democratization, and women and politics.

Dr. Daniel Philpott

altDr. Daniel Philpott is a member of the Kroc Institute for International Peace at the University of Notre Dame.

Dr. Diane Whitmore Schanzenbach

Dr. Diane Whitmore is an economist on the faculty of the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. She researches the effects of anti-poverty programs in the United States and developing countries.
