IGE Signs Agreement to Work with Pakistan's NWFP

Print

09 October 2005

Islamabad - IGE visited Pakistan's North West Frontier Province in October 2005 as guests of Chief Minister Akram Durrani. Because of a common commitment to religious freedom, social justice, and God, IGE agreed to a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chief Minister. The MOU was signed on October 9, 2005, just three months after Durrani's first visit to the United States as a guest of IGE.

With this agreement, both parties are publicly and transparently committed to: 1) promoting religious freedom; 2) striving for the socio-economic enhancement of minorities; 3) exploring educational partnerships between the U.S. and Pakistan; and 4) engaging in ongoing, reciprocal visits of academic, religious, political and business leaders in order to promote mutual understanding between our respective countries and faiths.

The full text of the MOU is attached.
